Freshmen’s First Finals

For Seniors, it’s routine even though it’s their second to last time. For sophomores and juniors, it’s no problem since they know the ordeal. But only so many freshmen know what was about to hit them at the end of the first semester.

I’m talking about finals. It’s that time of the semester where students will be tested on what they remember either from a chapter they just got done with or the entire semester. This is probably something many freshmen were not aware of. But now that they’re done, it’s time to see what they thought of it.

Since sophomores, juniors, and seniors would have an average of four finals - which varies on the amount of AP classes they take, which classes have a final on the final days, and how many opt outs they have - freshmen had five because of the Old Testament course. That meant the least number of finals freshmen could have was three - and that’s what Eli Denney and Alex Herrell had.

Eli was somewhat prepared for his three finals since he had two opt-outs. Considering that he had two older sisters, Sophia and Alexa, he states, “I was mostly ready for finals in terms of how much I needed to study and prepare for them but in terms of being ready for the real deal finals, I felt ready because of my sisters.”

For Alex, he only had an older brother and no one else. Yet, he was mostly prepared as well considering that he too had three finals by using his two opt-outs. He had brother Colton and was very prepared to take the tests.

But when it came to knowing about these finals, he had an idea on what they were but didn’t know much about them. However, he treats his finals ”like normal tests.”

Though these views are just two unlike the rest of the freshman class and what their views were, the finals are done and the second semester begins. However, they still have seven more semesters of finals to go. Good luck freshmen! You’re gonna need it.
