The Tech Generation: The Pros and Cons of Youth and Technology

There are many pros and quite a few cons with technology, especially when it comes to children and technology.

The main point one could say for children to be highly interacted with technology is education. With nearly 98,817 public schools nationwide, around one-half of them have technology given to them by the administration.

Another fact is that around 71 percent of children age three and over use the Internet.

Other than educational purposes, what else can they use it for? According to globalstudentnetwork.com, reading is a big reason as well.

Devices such as tablets and online readers make it easy and accessible for children to access virtual libraries and audio books.

However, there is striking evidence that technology may not be entirely positive for young people today.

The other side of technology can be represented by the distractions posed by online games and apps. These types of technology could also lead to isolation and social issues with kids if applied too much.

In addition, the prevalence of social media in the lives of young people could be negative, such as with another platform for hateful rumors to be spread.

Many parents could be unaware of their children and their technology use, and it sometimes goes too far.

Isolation is common among children who get addicted to their screens at an early age with no other activities. Kids that get addicted to technology and games miss out on the important things in life, and this limits their amount of physical activity as well.

Many arguments can be made for either side of the technology debate. We leave it up to y’all to decide yourself!
