Kayla Pfitzner, a sophomore at SCHS, is known for her energetic and outgoing personality. She is very competitive which has made her quite the powerhouse this golf season. She has taken home medal after medal and hasn’t let anyone get in her way.

Kayla has accomplished much so far, but when asked, this is her greatest: “I won 6 out of the 9 tournaments I played this year. My goal this year was to get top 10 at state and I got 7th,” Kayla said.

Kayla has had to work hard to get where she is today. She started playing golf when she was seven years old and spends 15 hours a week practicing. Kayla loves the game and loves the competition. Starting at such a young age and being dedicated to countless hours of practice has paid off.

“My accomplishments have boosted my confidence a lot because I know that I can make a putt now or hit a really good drive,” Kayla said.

Unstoppable. This definitely describes Kayla this golf season. She ended her season with an impressive 7th place finish at State this year.

“I didn’t perform as well as I would like to, but I improved a lot since last year placing 15th. The course was very challenging for all the players in the field, so I could’ve done better. But I took what the golf gods gave me,” Kayla said.

She hopes to continue being a powerhouse and winning throughout her high school career and possibly in college.

When asked about her future, Kayla replied, “I definitely want to play golf at the highest level in college. And we will just see where it takes me from there. It just takes hard work and commitment like any sport.”
